A Big Thank you to Peter Mikus, Toto properties!
It’s amazing how connections work, even from miles and miles away! Not long after we opened the hostel, we received a donation of AUD 500
Rinpoche’s vision of the hostel is a place where the students will receive the best support for their studies, as well as a nurturing place where they will increase their life-skills and develop their confidence in life through extracurricular activities on Saturdays (schools in Nepal are off on Saturdays). These years at the hostel will be key for them for the rest of their life.
The hostel will also be a real home to all students, and especially to the ones who do not have any place where to stay during holidays: in Kathmandu, the boarding school close during holidays, so the students can’t stay at the boarding school, and they can also not go back to their village in Nubri, as it takes 6 days travel from Kathmandu (among which 5 days of difficult trek up the mountains… some of our students are too young to do that trek). Now they have a place where to stay all year-round and focus on their studies without any interruption.
If you want to be part of these years where the students will develop as healthy beings, make a donation to support the hostel. Your donation will help us cover for the following hostel expenses:
– The building rent
– The staff salary (the Hostel In-charge, the Cook/Cleaning staff, the Tuition Teacher)
– The operational costs (gas for cooking, electricity, building and equipment maintenance, pharmacy box etc…)
– Books and educational games
– Extracurricular activities on Saturdays and holidays.
